(pl. "tableaux vivants) French for "living picture", the term describes a striking group of suitably costumed actors or artist's models, carefully posed and often theatrically lit. Throughout the duration of the display, the people shown do not speak or move. The approach thus marries the art forms of the stage with those of painting and photography.
Our SpringTableaux Vivant event at Tilbury Camp: Artists are invited to spend the day exercising their creative ingenuity in an atmosphere designed to spark the imagination. Our theme this time is "farm". Numerous models will be dressed in period costume of the actual 19th century, as well as of the 19th century that might have been. Scenarios will be staged and made available for plein air painting and photography. The scenes will be set for long poses for those who wish to paint.
Still life setups of period props will also be available. There will be no lack of things to paint or photograph! If you are an artist stifled for something to paint and without reference, now is the time to fill your portfolio.
The cost is $65 for the day, and begins at 9:00 AM, ending at dusk. Breakfast snacks and lunch will be provided, along with coffee and tea. Please bring your own refillable water bottle. We have excellent well water. Let's cut down on waste and just avoid the plastic bottles!
Don't miss this unique and exciting opportunity!
Only a limited number of artists will be invited, so register early.
